Ever since I was a little kid.....long before there was a Starbucks on every corner, and long before there were all sorts of calorie-laden coffee creations to suck down, my mom was making iced latte. Actually, it's just plain, ole' iced coffee, but it's simple, delicious, and great on a really hot day! I just love it in the summer.
Mom's Iced LatteMix equal parts of black coffee (I just let the coffee cool to room temperature first), and milk in a pitcher . You can use any kind of milk you like, but I prefer skim or 1%. Half and half would probably be pretty good too! Add sugar or Splenda to taste. You can also add anything else you like, such as peppermint extract, a bit of vanilla, cinnamon, a shot of any kind of flavoring, or even something like Kahlua or Bailey's Irish Cream.
Pour over a tall glass with plenty of ice, and if you want to get really crazy, add some fat free whipped cream on the top. Add a straw, and go sit on the deck and relax. Yummy!
This is one of my favorite summer treats!
OK - am I the only one on the planet that doesn't like coffee? Hot or cold ... I just can't make myself drink it. But my fourteen year old seems to like it as she rattles off all the different drinks she gets at Starbucks - courtesy of her father. However, I do LOVE the Starbucks Frappacinos ... but now that I think about it, I don't think they're made with coffee?
Now if they came up with a cold hot chocolate drink, I'd be all over it. And now that I think about THAT ... that's probably called a chocolate milkshake, right?
(I'm sorry to hear about Traci ... it's so hard to lose a friend and it doesn't matter how it happens, it's just plain hard.)

I've always been more of a lemonade girl, but this sounds like it's worth a try. Thanks for the recipe; have a great Tuesday.

Yum. Sounds delish, and my Uncle Bob (the dairy farmer) would really approve of the idea that your favorite summer drink has milk in it!
