Spam!

I get a lot of email every day. As a Mac girl at heart, I am fortunate to have a lovely higher power known as Apple Mail running behind the scenes, working hand in hand with Gmail. It's like our family hamster on its wheel, always going and going at blazing speeds keeping my inbox free from the seedier side of the internet, SPAM.

But every so often, normally when I'm at the office with no protection from my lovely Apple Mail, I'll venture over to Gmail and clear out my Spam folder. That folder never ceases to amaze me. Some days I wonder how I get through my days without taking advantage of some of the incredible offers that await me through the magic of the Internet. I used to think that some of the open markets I used to frequent in some of the not-so-great parts of London were interesting, but they can't hold a candle to my cyber-Spam-delicatessen.

I checked there last night and here are some of the fabulous deals that I nearly missed out on:
  • watches....cheap, cheap, cheap!
  • "innovative alternatives" to the Wall Street bailout
  • free Tailermade golf clubs (hmm, I thought it was TaylorMade)
  • the bestest places for great bargains
  • how to divert thousands of people to my website daily
  • blue pills (Aleve, right?)
Of course then there are all sorts of other offers. I didn't know I've been looking for love in all the wrong places, looking for a new car, looking for "a really big package" (from UPS, right?), and of course there were plenty of wonderful opportunities to earn up to $5000 a week just from my pretty little Mac here at home. A benevolent person named "Custom Alert" informed me that my little girl was at the hospital, but last I checked, she was right here. They even have some good gardening offers like:

Watch It Grow Large

and

Dude, Your Snake Sucks!

But alas, I've been trying to curb my unnecessary shopping these days and since I really don't care too much about gardening, I think I'll pass.

Maybe I should make one of my Thrifty Thursdays a Spam edition...just think of the bargains that you can take advantage of while finding love, losing weight, and becoming instantly rich all at the same time! Ah, the miracles of technology! So on this chilly Monday, here's to the kind hearted people out there like Norbert Gaynes, Alert4U, Barrick Oplama, Asa Joji, and Ikey Mycoochie, who are putting themselves out there every day, trying to save the world one little blue pill at a time!

It is everywhere the same! This spamming is so awhfull. And then all the spam wich go's in the spambox, while I waiting for it...

The first one who finds a solution for this spamproblem is king :-)

Love Fryske

Gotta laugh at it don't you - cos we sure are not going to get away from it :) Love the gardening reference ;)

Ack! I had no idea I had a spam folder on gmail. Good ole Mac has protected me from reality once again, I guess. Think I'll head over to gmail and see what fun offers I've missed lately.

Hey Barb, how's things hun? Great stuff here as always. Do you remember the 'spam' sketch by Monty Python? LOL

LOL--That was fun! I had 347 spam messages in my gmail box. Many people wanted to buy my home, give me a job, or award me gift cards and prizes. And there were several kind offers to allow me to view my credit scores online--I think all I had to do was provide my SSN to see it immediately! Plus, I learned how Niagara is different from V*****. Very educational.

I think I'm one of the lucky ones - I rarely get spam. (knocking on every single bit of wood around me)

I don't get much on my home computer, but anytime I check remotely it's insane. So many opportunities, so little time...

My spam folder on gmail is currently home to 4118 spam messages! Would you believe I delete all spam messages AT LEAST once a week?!?! it seems they are working overtime lately!

I don't know where my spam goes at Embarq. I receive my mail via my desktop. But I can only imagine whats in that folder. eeeeewwwww

OMG Barb thank you for the laugh this morning...I can't believe you've missed out on all of those great offers!

Reading my span folder is a whole new fomr of entertainment!! LOL

About the only spam I get is from my father-in-law, but what can I do? LOL Loved your "gardening" comments.

I'm rolling here! Loved todays post. I'm not so fortunate with the filter and have to empty my gmail spam folder quite often. Can't figure out where they get the darn email address from in the first place. grrr.

Hope it wasn't as cold down there as it was here. brrrr.

I love reading some of the titles of the SPAM... they make me laugh so hard!!

Funny...one time I thought I had created a list of words that would filter out all the spams...they keep coming up with new references for the same work, you know, like 'garden hose.' :)

I have a spam filter on my e-mail and sometimes when I go over to clear it out, I have to laugh at some of the things I see. And then I wonder, do people actually really buy this stuff? I mean, is there some guy out there in Timbuktoo ordering stuff from these spammers??

thanks for your comment barb and i agree with you about the spam!

Thank goodness for spam blockers! Do you remember what we did back in the old days, before there were such things? I opened an email once that had all sorts of pictures. I think I screamed. It was traumatic. (Obviously, I'm still talking about it ten years later!)

So annoying. I get so frustrated with good meaning friends that give my e-mail away to third party companies.
