I have to be out the door in less than an hour to take the car in for a morning of routine maintenance. Have I hopped in the shower yet? No. Have I figured out what I want to blog about yet? No. But here I go anyways....
Today is pumpkin carving day. It's one of those tasks, kind of like cleaning closets or putting up the Christmas decorations, where I hate the process but love the results. Fortunately, Shannon is getting really good at it, so I about at the point where she can take over. I still can't believe that it's October 29th already. Where in the heck did the month go? Here's one she did last year, I think it should get a prize for best use of a golf ball....
And speaking of Halloween, Olive went to a doggie Halloween party at a local boarding kennel the other day and won first prize in the costume contest. This is not the first time we've dressed her up and needless to say it's much more for our own amusement than hers! Here's what we did to her two years ago. Look at that face....pathetic! This year we dressed her up in Cincinnati Bengals gear. I think they gave her the prize out of pity.
Are you ready for the election to be over yet, like I am? I wish I had a dollar for every political ad that I see and hear. I'm so sick of it all.
I go back to the orthopaedic surgeon guy tomorrow for the final checkup on my shoulder. It was feeling really great until I tweaked it late last week. Now it's sore again. I really, really, really hope it's nothing. He said that I couldn't re-injure myself, and I'm sure hoping that he's right.
We had the honor of singing at a wedding last Saturday, that was so great! It was such an honor to be asked to participate in such an important event. I have to say, it was kind of odd to be there without a camera in my hand (okay, I did bring a camera, but only snapped a few photos before the ceremony).
Is it cold where you are? It's pretty darned chilly here, but at least we haven't seen the snow fly yet. Ugh. My roses are still blooming and look really great, so I'm holding on to the lovely fall for as long as possible!

That pumpkin gets first place in my book. I"m assuming Shannon is your dd, so good for her! We were supposed to do ours today but my dd is sick. We use patterns for carving and it makes it easy to do now, boring but easy!

That is one totally sick but really cool pumpkin! Yes, it's cold here but it's supposed to warm up to 60 again by the weekend. Put some ice on that shoulder.

I LOVE that pumpkin! Shannon is amazingly imaginative and creative. Just like her Mommy. ;-)
It's not cold here at all. We're having some sort of heat wave. The a/c was still on a half hour ago at 7:30pm!
I love roses. Sigh.

Visiting from the DST blogtrain.
Cold?
I hung my underwear out on the clothesline and they're stiff. so ya.
Your punkin needs a rating for violence.
I wish you had taken your camera - like taken a ton of pics, bet they would have been good, judging by the one you did get.
Thanks for sharing your little corner of the world.
You were my coffee break between canning jars of tomatoes. Welcome break. Good post.

What a wicked looking pumpkin! Too fun!

I love the first pumpkin! I can't wait until mine are old enough for the creative stuff. They want to do it themselves, so we still get basic shapes around here. Congrats to Olive!

Barb,
What a cute site you have. I love the pumpkins and your wedding photo. It is also nice to see someone has a sense of humor about life like you do. Thank you for stopping by my site and visiting my Keanu Reeves.

Wow what a creative pumpkin, that should've gotten first place for a number of reasons. Good luck with the doctors appointment. Oh and yes I am so ready for all the political stuff to be over, I'm sick of it. Now I have to check out your recipe, I have tenderloin in my freezer, tonight is going to be stew though, that's already in the crockpot.

Oh, I didn't come by yesterday, but I got my recipe, printed it, and I did buy a tenderloin at the grocery store last week... but I need to go and get the marinade ingredients... I gotta get milk anyhow, so YAY!! guess what we will have tomorrow or Friday!!! and it will be my "colorful" meal.... Thanks Barb....I'll let you know! {{HUGS}}

We haven't carved our pumpkin yet, or found costumes for the dogs. Since I only have two days, I guess I'd better get in gear.

Did our pumpkins yesterday. SO much easier than when we were kids....no pumkins, used turnips - which are as hard as bricks and solid the whole way through. It used to take HOURS and blisters and bent spoons!
Very chilly here too, first snow in N Ireland yesterday - first time to have snow in October in 25 years!

Our pumpkins are buried under a foot of snow. Oh, pity!

Love the creativity Shannon shows with her pumpkins! Love the first one. Can't wait to see this years pumpkins.
The Paris 2008 sign had me cracking up. That's about how I feel with all the Ohio election stuff - so tired of it ALL! At least it's almost over.
Great photo from the wedding too! Hope all goes well with your Dr. visit too
Stay warm!! and at least it's not the snowstorm that hit NJ.

WOW on the pumpkin. I couldn't do that. Hers is awesome! Mine always looks like your typical triangles for eyes and nose pumpkin. No originality. LOL
I hope your shoulder is ok too!!! Here's hoping!
And it's cold here, but starting to warm up in time for trick or treating. YAY!

Geesh, that pumpkin makes me embarrassed with my post today! We are just not creative when it comes to pumpkin carving *sigh*
I hope your shoulder turns out to be OK, Barb. The shoulder is like the back - it's a nasty area to have trouble with because it affects so much of what you do.

That pumpkin is totally cool!!! We are doing our pumpkins tonight.

After seeing that first pumpkin, I am worried about your mental health, Barb! Actually, it's pretty great, but it cracks me up that my pumpkins come out with holes drilled to make a lantern (a la Martha Stewart), and you make yours up to look like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
