In case you haven't noticed, there's an election tomorrow. SURPRISE! If you have noticed, however, you might be getting a bit tired of the ads that are bombarding your five senses. I know I sure am.
When your tooth aches and you need to have it fixed, they give you NOVACAINE.
When you need stitches, they give you LIDOCAINE.
When you have a rotten cold sore, you get yourself some BENZOCAINE.
If you're giving birth, they might even give you some CHLOROPROCAINE to dull the pain and keep you from shouting obscenities at your husband.
So what do you take when political ads are giving you a pain in the posterior? Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you OBAMcCAIN.
Since I'm between jobs for a week, I actually have a day or two with very little going on. That's not good, as I'm normally a bit of a radio junkie. But not today, as I've vowed to spare myself the pain of the "day before the election political barrage" of ugly ads. So along with turning off the radio and television and putting down the newspaper, here are my suggestions for getting away from it all....
- Rake leaves
- Walk the dog
- Ride your bike
- Clean your closets
- Go to the gym
- Meditate
- Go to church
- Get groceries
- Work in the garden
- Take a nap
- Wash the car
- Read a book
- Go to a movie
- Do some volunteer work
- Meet up with a friend you haven't seen in a while
- Plan Thanksgiving dinner
- Do some early Christmas shopping
- Pick an old playlist on your iPod and listen to it
The list could go on and on! I know I'm going to start with a morning of raking/blowing leaves. I'm planning on a long walk on the bike trail with a friend later, and the dog needs some grooming. My car needs a bath. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get a lot done today (much to Olive's dismay!) as long as the weather holds. Right now it looks like it could rain.
Twenty four hours from now the ads will be gone and there will be nothing more left but the voting and the aftermath. I know I'm hoping that whomever wins does it by a decent margin, so that there isn't any of the fiasco of the last elections. I just can't wait until it's all over!
On Saturday night we had a bit of a Tex-Mex fiesta here with my parents and I made a batch of my chicken enchiladas. They're soooooo good. It's not a healthy recipe, but I do try to lighten it up a bit. I think tomorrow I'll share that recipe with you all. They take a bit of work to make, but they're so worth it.
Happy Monday, have a great day, and take your Obamccain! The pain will be over soon!
I'm tired of all the political talk and I'm in Canada! LOL Good for you for getting some stuff done in between jobs!

I totally agree! Regardless of your political leanings, how can you not be absolutely sick of the ads? It feels like they've been on tv for years. Oh, wait, they HAVE been on for years! No wonder we're sick of them.

I'll be so glad when the election is over. Every time my phone rings, it's some solicitor or candidate asking for a vote or money.
The enchilada recipe sounds yummy! Can't wait to read it!

I wish that the jokes could ease the pain. The only thing that got me through the weekend is I was in Michigan and they're only running state ads. yea!!
Hope you had a great weekend and enjoy your time off. I see that Cincinatti won. (Sorry bout u of M)

I will be glad to go vote and get it over it. I hope it comes out like I'd like.

I don't get any of that stuff, so I'm actually seeking out the coverage. I've become addicted to CNN! It's actually kinda nice to have the distance to give perspective. Good luck dodging the pollsters and ads!

Oh.My.Gosh! I love that joke! I am SOOO weary of those ads. I think they should all save the money from political ads and put the money toward the deficit or hurricane relief somewhere, SERIOUSLY!
Your Halloween photos are great!

enchiladas! I'm all over it!
I'm not watching any election coverage today ... I'm so sick of it. I can't wait to vote tomorrow, but even more, I can't wait to NOT be inundated with political ads.

I think you should consider adding, "take your phone off the hook" to the list. That would lessen my pain considerably. Telemarketers and campaign workers of the world: I KNOW TOMORROW IS ELECTION DAY! (and it's too late for you to sway me, so pleasepleaseplease quit calling my home.)

Ugh, I'm so tired of all the political stuff, too. Can't wait until Wednesday morning!

I'd rather watch political ads all day than scrape wallpaper, Michelle!

Sooo, when you're done doing your work you ARE coming over to do mine right? I'll even be nice and let you scrape wall paper! yea!

I'm right there with you. I'm trying to avoid the day before the election stuff as well. I'll be working on the house or scrapping, whichever mood strikes me today.
