Well thanks to the monster snow and ice storm, Shannon's birthday today has basically been cancelled!
Her birthday gifts are under my desk at work, and my office is closed.
We're supposed to be going out to dinner tonight to celebrate, and chances are that's not going to happen.
However, more of this is going to happen:
and this
I guess one of the bummers about growing up and getting older is that you get to pick up more "older kid" duties, like shoveling snow.
"But Mooooom, this is really HARD!"
Of course it's hard, older people die from shoveling, but teenagers don't.
That's why teens get paid to shovel.
Actually I did most of the shoveling yesterday, but she got to finish up when I decided
I was ready to go in and make some lunch.
So today I need to figure out something fun and special to do
to celebrate a birthday when you're snowed in.
I'm thinking that some baking might be in order, if I've got the supplies.
At least there is one gift here at home, so that's something.
And the birthday celebrations will have to continue
on into tomorrow. That's not so bad.

Happy Birthday Shannon!!!! You are so cute and fun! I love that bottom picture of you!

Oh no! Cute and funny pics though! I can totally relate to weather pains, it doesn't feel like it's ever going to warm up where we are!
Hang in there!

If it makes Shannon feel any better, the power has gone out twice on Ryan's birthday, just as dinnertime rolled around. And it's rained 19 out of 21 b'days for Sean (April 13), including the day he was born. No massive snow storms, though.
I approve of your baking plan. But what do you mean, "if [you've] got the supplies"? I can't even begin to fathom not having the supplies for baking! You know me, I could practically run a bakery out of my house! Maybe you should just crank up that chocolate fountain again?

Happy Birthday to your daughter! We've got all ice here, but at least we still have power.

Love that - teenagers don't die from shoveling snow! They don't wrench their back and hobble around like a 90 year old biddy, either.
Have fun today!

Ah yes, the teenage right of passage for those of us who get snow. I can't wait until my boys are old enough to pass the shovel on to them. My back will thank me.
What about a special dinner of whatever she wants, even if it's junk food? Just whatever you've already got in the house.
