It was a really busy weekend starting out at the hockey game on Friday night. Like I said on Saturday, I didn't snag a jersey at the auction, but I did get a puck and the team won 7-1. It was a blast.
You can see all of my game and auction photos here if you're interested! Needless to say, the color is a lot better. I still can't figure out why Typepad totally washes out my photos when I upload them here. Everybody else's photos look good, but I don't like how mine get washed out. I've tried a bunch of things, but it doesn't seem to matter.
Saturday night Andy and I went to a gala for a local charitable organization that we support. We went last year and it was great, and it was great again this year. One of the highlights was that I got to meet one of our new Congressmen. He's not my congressman, I'm in a different district, but it was great to talk with him for a while. He was telling me what it was like to be a freshman congressman standing on the inauguration platform last week, and how neat (and cold!) that was. But the best part was when he was sharing his children's observations and feelings about being there. His kids are 13 and 8, and their observations were really funny and cute!
Yesterday was Shannon's "Choc-A-Lot" birthday party, complete with a chocolate fountain.
I'm not a huge chocolate fan, so I had a few tastes, and that was enough for me. But the whole thing was really cool and both the birthday girl and guests had a good time, eating chocolate and playing "Pin the Fangs on Edward Cullen".
Of course they didn't want any of us "elderly" folks around, so we grown ups hung out downstairs. Shannon shares a birthday with a good friend, so they came over and celebrated with us. Shannon's (and Ken's) real birthday is Wednesday, so we'll be going out for a family dinner on Wednesday. That's weather permitting of course, since we're supposed to get a nice big winter storm tomorrow through Wednesday morning. Yay!
I hate little snows. I love big, dumping, snow storms. Well that's about it for me....gotta get running. It looks like it can be a crazy week, with lots of snow on the way. I need to make sure I get a bunch of work done today so I can get a bunch of shoveling done in the next few days. You know how I feel about shoveling snow.....

Oh I love chocolate and I've been tempted to buy one of those fountains, fruit covered in chocolate is the best. Now that is my kind of a party that you went to.

We have 2 things in common - love of big dumping snow and lack of a taste for chocolate. I wonder if they make cheese fountains?

Barb, I love the theme for Shannon's birthday...how cute! That's my kinda party! Hoping for lots of snow for you ;)

You can send that snow here. We have yet to have any real snow to shovel. Most of our snows have been able to be cleared with the push broom. It's sad. I fully expect a February or March blizzard like we usually get when the beginning of winter is so mild.

Pin the fangs on Edward? That cracked me up! Happy birthday to Shannon!
And for God's sake, did you really say you're not a fan of chocolate? And that you're a fan of big, dumping snowstorms?
I thought we were twins? We must be fraternal. And born in different dimensions.

I hope we do!

At least your shoulder is now in good enough shape for a little snow shoveling. Let's just hope we don't have to shovel 8 inches worth in one day!
