On the new blog! If you're following me here, be sure to follow me over there. Thanks!
Seems like the only times I update these days are when the bizarre weather hits. Well today is no exception. I'm so tired of rain. Check out my swamp out back:
So sad that we used to have a really beautiful back yard. Now it's just a swamp full of tree roots and onion grass. Sigh.
Attention Rain! Please STOP!
It hasn't rained here in forever. We're in a serious drought and have been for a while. I think we've had only one rainy day since early May. That's ridiculous. It really is.
Yesterday, in the late afternoon, the skies darkened and started rumbling. And then it started raining...or so I thought. But it seemed a lot louder than your average rain storm. It was hail and it was cool!
On a side note....my snapdragons haven't bloomed all summer because it was so hot and dry. Now that it's November they are looking great. Same for my roses. Bizarre. It will be spring at Thanksgiving this year. Crazy weather.
I just read Andy's blog and she posted a bunch of random thoughts today. I've been about as unmotivated this week as you can get. But as usual, I do have some thoughts as well, so I'll just toss them out there and you can take them or leave them...as usual!
LeBron - you're a great player and you seem to be a decent guy. You're probably the best thing to ever happen to Cleveland. But I still don't care. The hype? Ridiculous. (I do like the Vogue cover, however, even if it was the lowest selling issue EVAH.)
It's HOT. It's like blast furnace hot, like the depths of Hell hot, like Elin Woods angry with a nine iron in her hand hot. Ridiculous.
Bill Cosby was right. Children ~ especially teenagers ~ have brain damage. Ridiculous.
Mike Modano as a Red Wing...now that's HOT in a good way. Mo was born and raised in South Detroit just like me baby. Home to the Motherland! Ridiculous great!
Closet Wars Continue.... as I try to get a handle on hidden clutter. Ridiculous.
Booked another wedding today. That will be two in one month. Ridiculous fun!
I get to be a hair model tomorrow. Free cut and color at my salon. Ridiculous awesome unless my stylist was serious about the nude photos with body paint.
Four Months. That's how long I have been without my grocery store. It reopens in three weeks and it can't some soon enough. Ridiculous. And today the road that takes me to the back up grocery store that I hate is closed indefinitely. Double ridiculousness.
Kindle. After six weeks I can report that it's true love, the real thing. I"ve read more books in six weeks than I usually read in a year. Right now I'm reading The Game by Ken Dryden, a must-read for all hockey lovers. Super interesting and beautifully written. Ridiculous good good good good.
In the movie Groundhog Day, Bill Murray kept reliving the same day over and over and over again.
It's not that much different here, really. We do a lot of relaxing, playing in the surf, reading, enjoying the resort, and of course eating and drinking. Lather, rinse, repeat. I haven't even taken that many photos, because frankly, they look like all of my other photos from down here. Granted, we're at a new resort this year, just up the road from the old one (if you can call it old). I will be putting up a few pics of that later this week.
But in the meantime, here are a few shots from our balcony and from around the resort. We're on the 19th floor, one from the top, and the panoramic views are fantastic! As you can see, we've also had some pretty impressive clouds and storms, usually late in the day but sometimes in the very early morning.
Some impressing storms down here, that's for sure!
In the photo below, that's Shannon waiving from our room balcony. Way. Up. There. I took this shot from the comfort of my pool chair. Don't be a hater.
Going sightseeing in Miami and South Beach tomorrow! I've never been there, and I'm really looking forward to it!
Obviously I wasn't going anywhere. I think I really only fooled one person, who gave me some really kind and thoughtful advice, and I appreciate it, I really do. She's just the dearest person. However, when I told her that I was pulling her leg, she admitted that she was heavily medicated.
Olive the Wonder Dog is guest blogging for me today, while I'm shoveling out....AGAIN!
Remember to give her lots of lots of lovies!

We're finally digging out from that monster storm that hit on Monday night. We got about 5 inches of snow on Tuesday, then about 1.5" of ice, followed by about six more inches of snow. It was an ice parfait!
Well thanks to the monster snow and ice storm, Shannon's birthday today has basically been cancelled!
A big blowhard of a dude named IKE rolled into town yesterday, pretty darned unexpectedly, packing with him some serious gusty winds.
