Solitude...a Rare Event

So here I am on a lazy Sunday morning.  I went to church last night, I slept in for the first time in literally years (when I haven't been sick), and I have the house to myself again for several hours. 

I'm pondering my options. I can do any or all of the following:

• cut down my roses
• drink coffee and read my kindle (currently reading The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo)
• watch football 
• paint more trim in the kitchen 
• plan an upcoming holiday event
• do some digital scrapbooking

I think I'm opting for the reading and scrapbooking, but I really should trim the roses because the lawn junk pickup is tomorrow.  We'll see.

Favorite Words

Yesterday I was working with Shannon on her vocabulary and she mentioned that OMIT is one of her favorite words. I thought that was an interesting choice. I have a lot of favorite words that I like to either spell or say, but OMIT is not even on my radar screen.

 

So I asked her what other words she really likes and here is her list:

Then there are words that sound like the things they represent, that's onomatopoeia,

another great word that's just fun to say. 

I've always been a bit geeked out by these word, including words like:

SLUDGE

HISS

ZOOM

CLANG

FRUMPY

HICCUP

SPLASH

 

We asked Olive what her favorite words were and she said....

And while she can't enunciate (another good word!), we know that some of

STEAK

BACON

MEAT
